Method for controlling degradation of electric water heater in home, involves generating degradation alarm if result of comparison of degradation coefficient of resistor with reference degradation coefficient value exceeds preset threshold
The method involves measuring and storing values of power consumption per unit time by an electric water heater for a predetermined period of time (76). A degradation coefficient (lambda) of a resistor is calculated (78) based on power consumption values, and the degradation coefficient is compared (80) with a reference degradation coefficient value (lambda 0). A degradation alarm is generated (88) if the result of the comparison shows a deviation above a predetermined threshold. An independent claim is also included for a control device for controlling degradation of an electric water heater.
