Soil Respiration and its Components of the Degraded Ecosystems in Temperate Mixed Forest Zone

摘要

The goal of this research was to determine small-scale variations in total soil respiration and its components that can be applied to study the global carbon cycling. The degraded ecosystems including temperate mixed forest, poplar-birch forest, hardwood forest, mongolian oak forest and bare land were investigated during the growing season. Data of total soil respiration and its components were collected with an infrared gas exchange analyzer and by using a trenched-plot approach. The results indicated that curves of seasonal and daily soil respiration had a single peak for each different degraded ecosystem, the maximum soil respiration rates occurred during the summer months of July or August. The fluctuation patterns of the major components and the total soil respiration rates were very similar. In conclusion, the response of soil respiration during succession of degraded ecosystem resulted from a synergistic effect of multiple elements.
